"Do I have to build every piece of software there is?"

"Who built this? I wish I had a remote, electronic cattle prod..."

"Before I die I guess I am going to have to build a contact management program. ACT, OUTLOOK, Goldmine, Telemagic I hate 'em all."

These were my typical ranting and ravings at being outraged at today's contact management programs. If you work with databases and want your contact management program to act like one - you know what I mean.

Now with a remote work force, I need to make available to my Web guy in San Francisco and my sales people in San Diego real time information on our customers and potential customers via some sort of contact management program.

I tried a web service that ran my OUTLOOK contact database on the web, but it crawled - completely unusable.

Then I was told I could put up a dedicated server and pay for Microsoft's server software and incur support expense for running OUTLOOK that could be accessed remotely.

"Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr"

Then a miracle happened.

Contact Pro

I gave them all the specific new database fields I wanted, specific sorting functionality, capturing the former modified date field from OUTLOOK and individual views so each person could have the fields they wanted and in just the right order.

As a software developer I have very high standards on performance, functionality and above all things - speed - especially when doing a search or sorting.

How would the Contact Pro system work when all my data was imported?

I was stunned. Somehow, Contact Pro over my Cable modem connection to the web is FASTER than OUTLOOK running locally on my machine. How is that possible?

Contact Pro is the best software development company I have ever worked with and Contact Pro is the best software program I have ever used in my life.

This is how the world should be...

Contact Pro is the organizational tool I have been looking for. Now I can contact and follow up with clients on a regular basis, and I have easy access to their contact history. I haven't even begun to tap into the potential that Contact Pro offers. The mail merge function allows me to send the same reminder notices, but personalized with their name and account information, to all my clients quickly and easily. I can access this data from anywhere there's an internet connection, and when I asked the techs if they could dump the information from my email program into my Contact Pro Account they had it done two days later.

I started my Contact Pro Account with the default fields and one group. After using it for awhile the benefits of customizing became apparent, so I added a few custom fields of information that I need to know about most all of my contacts and dropped a couple of fields I never use. I also set up a couple more groups and created a few categories for all my groups and easily reorganized all of my contacts. It's easy to find who I want, and a short step to doing what I want with those contacts. The first thing I did was schedule a weekly email to contact the sales office in Reno every Thursday about the report they send out on Fridays, and since then it's actually been sitting in my email every Friday morning.

I run a logistics firm and needed a way to access contact information from anywhere. I just log in to Contact Pro first thing in the morning in my hotel room, and in just a few minutes I've sent out emails to all of the service providers I'll be meeting with next week and deleted all of the To Do List reminders I took care of the previous day. I used to have to hunt for all of the automobile providers I knew in Chapel Hill, SC, but now a simple search gathers them all together, and a couple of steps later, they have all been sent a request for a bid on a new project with personal and specific business information for each inserted into each email.

My partner and I split our duties pretty much 50-50, so we need access to a lot of the same information, but also have our own specific contacts etc. We also wanted to give some of our employess access to some of our contact information. We weren't sure how to accomplish this, so the folks at Contact Pro Installed our own Custom version that lives on the server where our website is, and it's only accessible to us, with accounts for each type of employee, and special port data features they custom wrote for us to insert new contacts into other accounts that need access to that information. They were even able to do some work on harvesting user input from our website and inserting it into our appropriate Contact Pro accounts.
